How it all began

We have always led a sustainable and conscious life, trying to generate as little waste as possible and to recycle it correctly. But it really "clicked" for us in 2018. We were on Mallorca, just wanting to relax and enjoy the sun. Then, during an innocent dive in a small bay, we were shocked .

The internet is full, but of what?

While diving in the waters of the beautiful Balearic Islands, Dušan discovered at least as much trash as fish. Plastic packaging, bottles, lids, foils - everything imaginable was not only stuck in the rocks, but also covered the bottom of the bay and was stirred up and spread again with every wave.

Horrified and shocked, my enthusiastic husband took his diving net, which was actually intended for our shellfish, and brought up from the seabed whatever he could.

Just a drop in the ocean.

But this was only the beginning: naturally, the rubbish was later washed up on the beach. Together we walked through the bay and along the cliffs, collecting in our thoughts all the litter we could find. Our actions certainly caused surprised and curious glances from the other holidaymakers, but no one joined us. So a lot of rubbish remained.

Of course, we were already aware that marine pollution is a problem, but seeing it to this extent with our own eyes is something else entirely and touched us deeply.

Where do we start?

Later that evening, our thoughts were still on what we had experienced, and we reflected on the day. All sorts of questions raced through our heads. Where should we start? What could we actually achieve? And why hadn't any of the other people supported us? Our thoughts kept circling around this situation and our lives, because soon we would return to our daily routines and nothing would change. A huge problem. And yet the solution was actually quite simple and right in front of us.

Like a flash of inspiration, it suddenly burst out of Dušan: "Wouldn't it be great if we no longer had any plastic packaging at home?". Our vision was born!
